Mt. Hood is the backdrop of where I call home, Chile is where I grew up and the University of Arkansas taught me to become an adult with an obscure combination of classes to back me up in life.
In the ninth grade, my soccer coach put me in as goalie during our semi-final state tournament. I’d never played goalie in my 12 years of soccer, but both our main players had gotten injured and they needed someone. With five minutes left to the game, the other team had gotten past our defense and were making their way toward me. They shot it at the goal and I blocked it with my face. Despite the gushing blood and the gasping crowd, I stopped the goal and we won the game.
While this may not speak to my expert goalie abilities, it does show that I am always willing to jump into something new, even if it means facing a few challenges along the way.
